"Hold On Tight"
Photographed at a Loved One’s funeral, in a moment where things weren’t staged or planned—just felt. I was drawn to the quiet contrast in the room: the weight everyone was carrying, and the lightness that this little girl brought simply by being there. I kept my distance and let the moment unfold naturally, capturing her as she moved alongside her mother. I chose not to interrupt or direct anything. The framing is simple, almost restrained, to honor the stillness of the space. The blue tones reflect the emotional atmosphere of the room. There’s a sense of coldness that comes with grief—quiet, heavy, and distant. I kept the colors muted and leaned into those blues to match how the moment felt, rather than changing or exaggerating it. Making this image was a way of holding onto a fleeting intersection of innocence and loss—something small and passing, but difficult to let go of. Currently on view at Urban Art Space, Columbus Ohio.
